Community
Liverpool has one of the most active and well-developed community sectors in the country. Liverpool Vision recognises the important contribution that local people make in building a more inclusive society - and the role they can play in helping shape the city's regeneration. Being able to capture the ideas and insights of local people is important in shaping the plans for the city centre.
In May 2003, Liverpool Vision opened its fully accessible public exhibition space to showcase plans for regeneration activity in the city centre, host small-scale consultation events and educational workshops.
Liverpool Vision is the first URC to deliver such an innovative way to involve local people. The exhibition space has provided an informative and successful base for a range of events and exhibitions.
Establishing strong links with schools, colleges and other learning providers is critical to the success of the exhibition space. In November 2004, Liverpool Vision appointed a Community and Education Officer to work with school groups, community organisations, further and higher education institutions and the general public.
